A New Era for SFH

Schools for HumanityToday, more than ever, we need a revolution in education and SFH is leading the way. Humanity faces many global challenges and the only way out is through an out-of-the-box approach to education. But education today is built on an 18th century model and that simply does not suffice in a 21st century world with 21st century problems.

Let’s look at the state of education in the world today. For the first time in recorded history, the next generation is projected to be less literate than the previous generation. Every day, approximately 7,000 kids drop out of school in America alone, the wealthiest nation in the world. The most conservative numbers indicate that over 120 million children never go to school in their lives. According to UNICEF, nearly 1 billion people worldwide entered the 21st century unable to sign their names or read a book—67% are women. Nearly 2x as much money is spent on ice cream in Europe as is on basic education for all developing countries.

We at SFH find this unacceptable and every day, the world sits back and perpetuates this broken system. With this in mind, Schools for Humanity is proud to announce that no more will its sole focus be on building schools in impoverished areas, but rather on revolutionizing all of education throughout the entire world. From this moment forward, Schools for Humanity is dedicated to providing open access to quality life-skills education for the world. We envision a world where everyone, regardless of age, gender, geography, or economic status, has open access to, and actively benefits from, quality life-skills education tools and resources to better their lives and the lives of others. And this vision requires a change in access AND content.

And so, today marks the birth of the new and improved Schools for Humanity, plus the unveiling of a new team to help carry out our mission make our vision a reality. SFH’s new website is up and we are accepting donations once again. So we invite you to browse the new site and find out ways you can become involved in this exciting and world-changing project.

Thank you,
The SFH Team
